KeAndre Lambert-Smith is posting non-stop highlight reels at the Chargers training camp, will he be a breakout 5th round pick?

For Auburn fans, or anyone who studied the tape, grabbing KLS at pick No. 158 looks like one of the steals of the draft. His ability to adjust on the fly to poorly placed throws and still come down with circus catches was a staple of his time on The Plains.

With Mike Williams retiring, the Chargers are in need of depth at the wide receiver position. They addressed that by selecting Tre Harris in the second round and former Auburn Tiger KeAndre Lambert-Smith in the fifth. To my delight, KLS is already turning heads at training camp, with former Dawg Ladd McConkey serving as a valuable mentor.

Second-year star Ladd McConkey recently weighed in on the Chargers' rookie wide receivers, saying they're “getting better and better every day.” He emphasized that the adjustment period for young receivers can be tough, especially when it comes to mastering the fundamentals required at the next level.

“You might be in the huddle and not understand the play that’s being called,” McConkey said. “You come into OTAs and it’s like you’re running around with your head cut off. You have no idea what’s going on.”

According to McConkey, once rookies familiarize themselves with the mental aspect of the game, their natural athleticism starts to shine through. That could be exactly what we’re beginning to see from KLS. After a rocky start to camp, his recent highlights below suggest he’s starting to turn a corner. Watching how he develops chemistry with Justin Herbert in Los Angeles will be one of the more intriguing rookie storylines to follow.
