Former Auburn Tigers Wrap Up NBA Summer League Campaign

The NBA Summer League has officially concluded with the Charlotte Hornets claiming the win over the Sacramento Kings, 83-78, with Kon Knueppel earning the MVP title of the game.
Admittedly, the NBA Summer League has always flown under my radar. That changed this year when I realized the could still catch glimpses of the Auburn team I loved last season. It wasn't the same by any stretch - seeing Johni not getting passed to in the post was a strange change of pace. That set was almost a guaranteed bucket in college hoops, but with an elevated stage comes the need for growth.
As far as next-level performance goes, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Johni Broome made a statement. After earning First-Team All-American honors and playing leapfrog with Cooper Flag all year for the prestigious Naismith Trophy, Broome entered the league with a chip on his shoulder as the overall 35th draft pick.
Broome played in three games during the Salt Lake City Summer League, averaging 9.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks. He and the 76ers then traveled to Las Vegas for four more Summer League games, where he averaged 13.5 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.3 steals.
In his final game, Broome made headlines by scoring 22 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in the 76ersβ victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Beyond the stat line, it was simply a joyful game to watch. Whether it was the back-and-forth between Johni and Jaylin Williams or the three-point duel between Miles Kelly and Johni, I couldnβt help but smile seeing our guys perform on a bigger stage.

Johni Broome wasn't the only former Tiger I was watching. Dylan Cardwell, Miles Kelly, Jaylin Williams, Chaney Johnson, and Denver Jones also saw time in Summer League.

That wraps up my NBA Summer League coverage for our former Tigers. Iβll be keeping an eye out to see how each of these guys continues to progress. Itβs been a joy cheering for them during their time at Auburn, and I hope to keep cheering for them in the NBA. What a team!
